The Needs of Others
The parish actively supports the work of three organizations engaged in providing vital social services to individuals and families in need, locally and across the Metropolitan Chicago Area.

Beyond Hunger (formerly the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry) provides hunger relief to families from Oak Park, River Forest, and 10 other zip codes in Cook County.  Individuals & families who use the pantry must meet annual income guidelines set by the Illinois Emergency Food Assistance Program.  Benefits Counseling is available to assist persons seeking to apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other forms of public aid.
St. Leonard's Ministries is part of Episcopal Charities & Community Services (ECCS), a network of eleven social services agencies operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.  St. Leonard's Ministries provides interim housing, temporary & permanent housing placement assistance,  individual & group psychological counseling, substance abuse treatment & support, life-skills development programs, education and employment services for men and women released from prison.   The overall rate of recidivism in Illinois exceeds 50%, while the rate among men & women who complete the program at St. Leonard’s Ministries is just 20%.
The ReVive Center for Housing & Healing (formerly the Cathedral Shelter of Chicago), another agency of ECCS, provides residential and out-patient addiction treatment, food distribution, emergency social services, and supportive housing for single adults & mothers with children.  Christ Church joins over 40 other parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, 15 corporate groups & 200 unaffiliated volunteers to provide gifts and the means to purchase food for a holiday meal to Families & Elders in need through the Christmas Basket Program.
