Faith & Fellowship

During the course of the year, Christ Church reaches out to its family members, friends and beyond by offering a number of Faith & Fellowship events. Most are organized and hosted by our parish's social committee, the FunRaisers.    Some of these events are briefly profiled here:

Ashes to Go

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the 40-day (Sundays excluded) season of prayer & fasting, self-examination & repentance that precedes Easter.   People receive a sign of the cross marked in ashes on their foreheads as an acknowledgment of human mortality & frailty and a sign of hope & renewal.  Ashes to Go is offered on the church's front sidewalk on Ash Wednesday morning.

The Lasagna Dinner

Homemade lasagna, salad, crusty Italian bread, side dishes, dessert, & vino are served at this popular fellowship meal hosted in mid-Lent.

Mass on the Grass

On the first Sundays in June, July & August (weather permitting), the Sunday 10:00 AM Holy Eucharist is celebrated on the church lawn.  Keyboards and/or guitar are the usual types of accompaniment.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chairs for these services, but folding chairs are always available.

EpiscoPickles

Every September, the FunRaisers take over the church kitchen to create EpiscoPickles.  Made with love, laughter & prayer, these bread-n-butter pickles are sold exclusively at Holiday Hospitality, the Annual Parish Bazaar.  Literal word of mouth advertising has made them perennial sell outs.

Blessing of the Animals

Every 1st Saturday in October, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the parish hosts a Blessing of the Animals on the church's front lawn. The brief service is followed by fellowship with treats & refreshments for the animals & their people.

Holiday Hospitality

Holiday Hospitality is the Annual Parish Bazaar at Christ Church.  The Bazaar features Homemade Foods (including EpiscoPickles), Dollar Grab Bags, Holiday Gifts & Décor, a Brown Bag Raffle (proceeds benefit the church), & an opportunity to meet Santa, as well as local Arts & Crafts vendors.
